Making More Plants

Making More Plants by Ken Druse

This book gives in depth but easy to understand instructions on how to propagate common house plants, as well as landscaping plants.  It was very informative and builds confidence in properly learning how to successfully grow more plants.  There are many pictures to aid in comprehension of material, and the knowledge can be quickly applied to the plants mentioned in this book.  I definitely recommend it if you are a house plant hoarder!

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

This is still one of the most atmospheric books I’ve ever read; I always feel like I’m really there, on a stormy November island with beautiful, otherworldly water horses. Highly recommend experiencing the audiobook on Hoopla!

I have read the first two books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed them! I’m excited to dive into the third and final book of the series. Classic romance but from a different and unique perspective than most others I’ve read.

The Round House

The Round House by Louise Erdrich

This month is Native American Heritage Month, so I wanted to highlight one of my favorite novels written by a Native American author. I love “The Round House”. It is at times a very sad and uncomfortable book, as it deals with a very serious crime, but it is also a very hopeful book. This book is so many things at once: a mystery, a coming of age story, a novel about family, a story about culture. I hope you find it as engaging as I did.

The Spirit Keeper by K.B. Laughed

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

You’ll love this book! It is a story of an Irish immigrant- Katie O’Toole (17) who came from an abusive family and is captured by American Indians in 1747. A Holy man has a vision of a red headed/blue-eyed white girl will become their “Spirit Keeper” who is destined to bring great things to their people. Beautiful story of two different cultures and how they are connected through love, loss, and loyalty.

Providence

Providence by Alan Moore

Fans of Lovecraftian stories shouldn’t snooze on this excellent graphic novel series, now handily collected in one compendium! Alan Moore has fun playing with Lovecraft’s Cthulu mythos in this series that follows the character Robert Black, a reporter living in New York in 1919 who catches wind of a strange book that drives its readers mad. This is a total love letter to New England, as well, as Black travels throughout Salem, New Hampshire, and the greatest American city to ever exist… Providence, Rhode Island.

Natumes Book of Friends

Natsume's Book of Friends

Slice of life anime lovers, PICK THIS UP AND WATCH IT! Welcome to my favorite anime and a title you’ve probably never heard of! Natsume is a kind schoolboy who happens to be able to see ghosts and demons, so he’s often considered odd by those who can’t due to his seemingly random outbursts & reactions. This show is overwhelmingly positive, hopeful, and full of meaningful friendships. More seasons coming soon to CDPL. Available to watch on Crunchyroll in the meantime!
